FEMA Grants $24.5 Million to the City of San Antonio to Address the Needs of Migrants

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has granted the City of San Antonio an amount of $24.5 million to address the needs of migrants.

FEMA Grants $24.5 Million to the City of San Antonio

The City of San Antonio has received an amount of $24.5 million from FEMA to continue addressing the problems faced by migrants. This will be distributed to the non-profit organizations in the city and will aid migrants traveling to and through San Antonio until September 2025.

In a published article in San Antonio Report, the funding will be distributed to the following:

  • City of San Antonio will accept $13,051,737
  • Catholic Charities will get $5,688,925
  • United Way of San Antonio will get $5,795,360

Moreover, the members of the Council in the city accepted the funds but they did not discuss the agenda on how they will spend it.

How they Will Utilize the Fund?

According to a published article in HEADTOPICS, the fund will be allocated for the following:

  • Salaries
  • Transportation costs
  • Lease to operate San Antonio’s migrant resource center along San Pedro Avenue

Additionally, this will also fund other forms of migrant aid like meals, hotels, and toiletries until Sept. 30, 2025. Catholic Charities CEO Antonio Fernandez also said that the $5.6 million for Catholic Charities will go toward continuing operations at the MRC.
